Correspondence in the collection consists largely of letters from the managing editors of The Nation and from editors of other periodicals and from publishers. Included are letters from George E. Vincent, Cyrus Northrup, Richard Burton, Sara Teasdale and Vachel Lindsay. A letter from Ina Ten Eyck Firkins is a sympathetic analysis of Firkins' character and personality. Firkins' lecture notes include his files on the Arthurian legend, drama, the novel, poetry, the Romantic Movement, and the short story. The collection of Firkins' manuscrips includes essays, plays, reviews and books, as well as 234 unpublished poems in typescript. Notebooks include a Firkins bibliography of periodical contributions, and notes on English poets, on English authors and on other topics.
